New To Yoga

The class is open to all levels from complete beginner to advanced. If you haven’t done Yoga before don’t worry everything will be explained slowly and methodically.

We will explore the fundamentals of the Ashtanga Yoga practice, including the fundamental postures of the Primary Series of Ashtanga, breath and movement synchronisation, bandha (internal lock) control, and the focusing technique ‘drishti’ (looking place). By the end of the 6 week course each person should be able to walk away with the confidence and knowledge to start a home practice if they so wish. My aim is to share this wonderful practice with anyone interested.

Ashtanga Yoga has an image of being a tough physical practice, only for the fit and healthy practice. It’s true,
it can be tough, if you want it to be. But it also can be a soft practice if practiced with the correct attitude. ‘Yoga is Universal’ is the famous quote from Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Yoga can be practiced by anyone, whether young, old, small, large. It shouldn’t matter what limitations we have. What matters is that we recognise our limitations, and work with them in an intelligent manner.
